The one behind the lens

I'm a full-time photographer, wife to an amazing and talented man, and mama of three little loves, JT, Kingston, and Boheme. I was born and raised in a small town on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and I can’t remember a day in my childhood when I wasn’t creating something, and being a gymnast meant that self-expression was, and still is, a huge part of my everyday life.

What I'm all about

When I don’t have a camera in hand, I’m probably drinking matcha, running my kiddos around to their activities, or planning our next family adventure with my hubby, John. I’m inspired by light, connection, the 70’s, fluffy clouds, music, backyard BBQ’s, earth tones, windblown hair, California vibes, summers in Maine, spirituality, deep conversations, mother earth, imperfections, joy, birdsongs, rainy days, learning, and travel.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How it all Began

I’m often asked how I became a family photographer. Well, actually, family photography found me! I started out taking pictures of my three children in a candid way. Soon I was being asked to shoot other families the way I shoot my own. I remember being so nervous shooting my first family. My children are used to a camera in my hand so they just ignore it and do their thing. How in the world was I going to get an entire family, that I have never met before, to ignore my camera and connect with each other? Fast forward ten years and countless sessions later, I have now developed techniques that open space for  my clients to show me their authentic connection and not just some posed, fake version of their relationship. It lights me up when I hear my clients say, “I had no idea you captured all these moments because it seemed like we were just hanging out and laughing the whole time!”

Riordan Family

Erica isn’t a photographer she is an artist!!! She captures the moments and the memories not some canned family staged photo. She has this unbelievable way of capturing people’s true expression and personality. There is no way you would hire her and give her any less than 5 stars! If they had 10 you’d say it’s not enough!!

Working with Erica has been a longtime dream of mine that finally came true. I came across her pictures a few years ago and since then I had been looking forward to having the right event to be captured by Erica's lenses. Last year, when I got pregnant I thought that could be the perfect occasion. My husband and I are not used to being in front of a camera, but Erica made the whole experience super fun and exciting. She had a plan for how she envisioned the photoshoot to be (which I found very professional), she gave us suggestions about how to move in the space, but then let us be ourselves and that translated into amazing photos that really picture us for who we are. I can't recommend Erica more and I am looking forward to the next opportunity to be working with her again. Maybe baby #2? :)

Erica was awesome - we found out our kids go to the same school. She helped me pick an awesome location in Malibu (which probably no longer looks the same!). She also helped choose clothing for the photo shoot. She made me and my family at ease and the photos are fabulous. She had the photos to us very quickly. I really appreciated her responsiveness. We couldn't be happier with the photos!

I’m not sure where to begin! Erica is so incredibly talented. Every image is pure magic. She has this way of bringing everything to life. When you see her photos you feel like you’re a part of that particular moment in time. We were fortunate enough to have her for a newborn shoot and family shoot and could not be happier. She captured the sweetest moments in the newborn shoot and she captured all the crazy life we brought to the family shoot. On a personal level, she is the easiest person to work with. She makes you laugh and feel at ease when the camera is in your face and is not afraid to do what it takes to get the perfect shot. We look forward to working with her in the years to come.
