MAINE – MINI MOVIE
a collection of memories from our vacation in maine. living in southern california, maine seems like an odd choice for a summer vacation. but i grew up in boston, and spent many childhood summers in maine. i hadn’t been back in years, but after the sudden death of my beloved uncle chuck this spring, i knew it was time to go home. funny how death, in all it’s despair, puts life into perspective. watching my husband and children enjoy, and fall in love with maine, was such a full circle moment. no one wanted to leave. the children were begging to stay longer, but john had to get back for work. they are already talking about all the fun they’ll have next summer in maine, so i guess, to my utter excitement, another generation will be spending childhood summers in maine.
this film is also part of our monthly blog circle called “24 Frames. A Filming Project”. we are a group of photographers who came together to improve our film making skills. we’ll be making monthly films based on a specific theme. This month’s theme is “free choice”. i knew right away that i wanted to document our time in maine. please follow the blog circle to see how my amazingly talented friend Anita Perminova interpreted this month’s theme.
